Obituary Kevin Wagand
EWA BEACH, Hawaii - Kevin Lee Wagand, 44, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, died Friday,
Sept. 18, 2005.
He was born Aug. 18, 1961, in Freeport to Ronald and Nancy (TerHark) Wagand.
After graduating from Shannon High School in 1979, Kevin enlisted in the Army and successfully achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Three. As an Army aviator, he attained extensive knowledge of rotary and fixed wing aircraft, which prepared him for his final military assignment as Division Safety Officer with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. While serving in the Army, Kevin successfully completed several college programs culminating in the completion of a master's degree in management in 2001. He also served in Germany, Panama and Bosnia.
He retired in 2002 and lived in Thailand. Kevin and Anoma Chongngan were married in Korat, Thailand on Feb. 9, 2004. They moved to Ewa Beach, Hawaii, in January 2005. At that time he joined the 599th Transportation Group staff as the Information Assurance Manager. He soon became known as a hard-working, diligent employee.
Kevin was a Master Diver and a member of Road Dragons MC Harley Davidson motorcycle club.
He is survived by his wife, Anoma, and one-year-old son, Kurtis Lee of Ewa Beach; his parents of Shannon; sister, Rhoda (Scott) Strohecker of Lanark; brother, Douglas of Freeport; and grandmother Helen Bawden of Lena; nieces, Rachel Wagand, Krista Wagand and Jennifer Homan; nephews, Ryan Wagand and Brian Wagand; and grandniece, Alyssa Rompf.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Richard and Catherine TerHark and Lester Wagand, and grandnephew, Landon Rompf.
Burial was Monday at Schofield Post Cemetery near Honolulu. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon with Pastor George Woosnam officiating.
A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
The family was assisted by Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon.
