Sharon was born on September 22, 1938 to Everett and Fern (Grover) Terhark in Park Rapids. She attended Park Rapids Public Schools, graduating with the high school class of 1956. She was united in marriage to David E. Schackman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. They were blessed with six sons: Tim, Tom, Mike, Mark, Terry and Kurt. As a wife and mother, Sharon devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her family. After a time they moved to Richmond, MN where they made their home for 28 years. For over 20 years, Sharon worked in the meat department of the Plantenberg Grocery Store in Richmond. In retirement they returned to Park Rapids where they made their home on Portage Lake. In January of 2004, Sharon was deeply saddened by the death of her husband, David after 46 years of marriage. Sharon loved talking about and to her sons and not many days would ever pass without a call or visit from one of them. Sharon also enjoyed a close relationship with each of her daughters-in-law who she loved with all her heart. She enjoyed the Schackman family gatherings during deer hunting seasons, weddings, and the annual Christmas Party that the entire family would try to attend. Her life was made complete again by her marriage to Roger Winter of Shelby, MT on March 28, 2008. She and Roger enjoyed many memorable times traveling in their motorhome or on Roger’s “Trike” in the final years of her life. Sharon loved her boys, birds and motorcycling. She inherited her love for birds from her mother and would feed and watch them daily. She loved to bake a batch of bars or cookies for her sons and grandkids and was famous for her delicious chocolate brownies. She possessed a green thumb and enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and lived her faith daily touching many with grace and understanding. Sharon will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, her sense of fun, her open heart and most of all her unconditional and sacrificial love.
