Lenoir City, Tenn. -
Daniel George TerHark, 66, of Lenoir City, Tenn., formerly of Freeport, passed away May 30, 2009, at Fort Loudon Medical Center, Lenoir City, where he was a respiratory therapist.
Daniel was born Oct. 7, 1942, in Freeport, first son of George and Clarabelle TerHark. He graduated from Freeport High School, served in the U.S. Army, and furthered his education to eventually become a profusionist highly regarded in the medical community.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his wife, Mary, of Lenoir City; sons, John (Cherie) TerHark of Poplarville, Miss., James (Yolanda) TerHark of Knoxville, Tenn.; his dear grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; brothers, Greg (Heather) TerHark of Denver, Colo., and Randy (Nancy) TerHark of Ridott; sister, Helen (Richard) Rogers of Lanark; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs and cat.
Dan was an independent soul who helped people and animals his entire life. He donated his body to the University of Tennessee at Memphis for research in the hope that the medical community will, in the future, have the knowledge to treat and prevent the disease that took his life on this earth, interstitial lung disease.
A memorial fund has been established in Dan’s memory for Friends Forever Humane Society.
